What the county vote changes

Sonoma County's supervisors voted 4-1 in December 2025 to revise the county cannabis ordinance for the first time since 2018, and from July 1, 2026 storefront retail in commercial zones of the unincorporated county needs a use permit, according to the Press Democrat and Permit Sonoma. That does not alter the city's rules. The city ordinance confines stores to commercial zones. See the state page for delivery and limits.
