Santa Rosa keeps retail cannabis at least 600 feet from any K-12 school and from another retailer, The Press Democrat has reported. The City Council unanimously adopted its Comprehensive Cannabis Ordinance on December 19, 2017, and it took effect on January 19, 2018. The paper has described the city as more welcoming to retail than other Sonoma County cities.
Verdex lists 23 dispensaries, each with a state licence number. Adults 21 and over may buy. Both a city permit and a state licence are needed, and stores are chosen by a competitive application, not by a first-come rule.

The shops run along the city's arterials. Mendocino Avenue has 365 Recreational Cannabis at 2750; Santa Rosa Avenue has Doobie Nights at 3011 and Flame Dispensary at 1937; Guerneville Road has Cannavine; downtown, Flora Terra is on 4th Street, with its other shop out on Highway 12. Alternatives has two entries, Alternatives East on Bethards Drive and Alternatives, A Health Collective on Hampton Way. Highway 12 in the east holds Flora Terra's second store, so a shop advertised as Santa Rosa may be a drive from downtown.
- Two Flora Terra rows: they have different licence numbers and addresses, so match the one you visit.
- Spacing: the 600-foot separation between retailers limits how many can share a block.
- Licence check: our California licence guide covers the QR certificate and DCC search.
Prices vary between the dispensaries and the state adds its excise tax; see the tax comparison for how California stacks up. The California page gives the rest of the state.
