How it works

How cannabis is sold in Hemet

Hemet's own code allows five storefront cannabis businesses, and the register holds nine Hemet-address licences, so check which is which.

  • Count against the cap. Municipal Code Section 18-508 limits storefront retail to five, under Ordinances 2024-2033 and 2024-2036. If five or fewer applied, all got permits; if six or more, a lottery decided.
  • Note the window. The city's application period ran from 17 March to 14 April 2025, so most new storefronts here are recent.
  • Separate duplicates. Off the Charts is listed at 875 Airway Place and, under another licence, at 214 East Stetson Avenue.
  • Ask if it is a storefront. A retail licence does not prove a counter, so phone first.

Why nine against five?

Some licences predate the 2025 round, and others may be non-storefront, which the storefront cap does not govern. Verdex could not read the resolution that sets the scoring, so it cannot say which. Verdex holds no score for any of the nine.

Where do they line up?

Florida Avenue is the spine: Blazed Utopia at 1958 West, Catalyst at 41007 East, STIIIZY at 1101 West and Star Budz at 2050 East. Budology is on San Jacinto Avenue. A licensed-shop guide shows how to verify each one, and the Inland Empire sits inside California.

Cannabis in Hemet: questions

How did Hemet choose its five storefronts?

If five or fewer applications came in, all were approved; if six or more, approved applications went into a random lottery, according to the city's process.

Why does Verdex show nine licences?

The state list includes licences the storefront cap does not govern, and some predate the 2025 round; the city's own list is the better guide.
