How it works

How cannabis is sold in Napa

  1. The city of Napa passes an ordinance allowing medical cannabis sales only, so buyers needed a physician-approved card, the Napa Valley Register reported.

  2. Abide opens on Iroquois Street as the city's fifth dispensary.

  3. A revised ordinance allowing adult-use retail takes effect in early March.

  4. Abide receives its city clearance and starts adult-use sales at 4:20 p.m.

  5. SPARC opens off Soscol Avenue as the city's ninth dispensary.

Where the eight sit

Tanen Street holds Sparc at 1726 and 1858 Tanen Retail at 1858. Second Street has Cookies at 2481 and Harvest at 2449, Oak Street has Eagle Eye at 2550, and Kaiser Road has Napa Cannabis Collective at 860. Perfect Union is on Industrial Way and Napa Downtown Retail on Iroquois Street. The Register also named The Herbivore on California Boulevard among the first adult-use sellers, but it is not on the list Verdex holds. When adult-use sales began, the paper reported one owner said local buyers had driven to Vallejo, Fairfield or Santa Rosa, and no dispensary then existed elsewhere in the county. Cannabis in Napa: questions

Do I still need a medical card in Napa?

No. The Napa Valley Register reported in April 2022 that adult-use clearance let stores sell to anyone 21 or older, and that a medical card was no longer needed. Each store needed its own city clearance first.

Can wineries or hotels sell cannabis?

Verdex's sources cover storefront dispensaries only. In April 2022 The Herbivore's president told the Register he hoped adult-use sales would open collaboration with Napa's hotel and music industries, so treat hotel or winery sales as unconfirmed.
