Question 1 of 8 · past 6 months

How often do you use cannabis?

Why these eight questions

CUDIT-R asks about how often and how long you use, loss of control, missed obligations, time spent, memory problems, risky situations and wanting to cut down. Together they track the criteria doctors use for cannabis use disorder. A higher score means more of those signs are present, more often.

Cannabis use self-check: questions

Can this test tell me if I am addicted to cannabis?

No test on a website can diagnose you. CUDIT-R is a screening questionnaire: a score of 8 or more suggests hazardous use and 12 or more suggests a possible cannabis use disorder, which a doctor or counselor can assess properly.

Are my answers stored?

No. The score is calculated in your browser. Nothing you click is sent to Verdex or anyone else, and nothing is saved when you close the page.

What is cannabis use disorder?

It is the medical term for a pattern of cannabis use that causes problems — using more than intended, failing to cut down, cravings, or continuing despite harm to work, relationships or health. It ranges from mild to severe and is treatable.

What should I do if my score is high?

Talk to your doctor or call a free helpline such as SAMHSA in the US (1-800-662-4357) or FRANK in the UK (0300 123 6600). Planned breaks, using less often and never using before driving are practical first steps.

Where does this questionnaire come from?

The Cannabis Use Disorders Identification Test – Revised was published by Adamson and colleagues in Drug and Alcohol Dependence in 2010. It is widely used in research and clinics and is free for non-commercial use.
