How it works

How cannabis is sold in Arcata

Drive north on Highway 101 for the redwoods and Arcata is where the plan needs a second look, because the National Park Service says cannabis remains illegal on national park land and Arcata's licensed stores stop at the city line.

  1. Start on the letter streets.
Humboldt Herb & Market is at 427 H Street, Pacific Paradise at 1087 H, The Fireplace at 1041 F and Humboldt's Premium at 460 I.
  2. Add the outliers.
The Ganjery is at 1507 G Street and Livity out on Valley West Boulevard.
  3. Bring photo ID.
California adult-use sales are for people 21 and over.
  4. Keep it out of the parks.
Take it sealed to your lodging, not to the trail.

How many stores can Arcata hold?

Ordinance 1501, adopted on 6 June 2018 and in force from 6 July, limits primary cannabis retail to fifteen, with no more than two in the Plaza Area Combining Zone and one in each Commercial-Mixed Use Center district. Accessory sales, such as a shop selling a few products alongside other goods, are outside the cap, according to the city text. Six stores appear on the register against that ceiling, and each carries a licence number such as C10-0000696-LIC for Humboldt Herb & Market. Humboldt County and the rest of the state are covered from the California overview, and the licence-check guide covers verifying a number.
