Look up a licenseHow cannabis is sold in Hayward
Hayward is not accepting applications for new storefront dispensaries, yet Verdex lists five licensed ones.
Which roads carry the five stores?
Foothill Boulevard holds three: Garden of Eden at 21227, Gream Enterprises at 21463 and Jiva at 22701. Cookies is on B Street and We Are Hemp on East Lewelling Boulevard. None has a Verdex score yet.
How does the city pick who applies?
Under Article 14 of Chapter 6 of the municipal code, the council may direct the City Manager, by resolution, to call for applications and may set a cap on permits. The city announced screening rounds for applicants in December 2021, November 2023 and October 2024, according to its news releases. That pattern means new permits come in waves, not on demand. Confirm a store's permit with the city before ordering from it, since Verdex found no fixed cap number in the sources it could open. The licence-check guide shows how, and East Bay towns share the state rulebook under California.
