What did Canopy's 2023 cut do to the town?
Tweed took over the shuttered Hershey factory in 2013, and the Globe and Mail counted about 800 direct jobs there within five years. The 2023 restructuring cut 35 percent of the workforce, per CBC. The brand still shows on the register as Canopy Growth, a producer, not a shop.
Where can you actually buy here?
Four stores: Highlife and Pop's Cannabis Co. on Lombard, Olympia Cannabis on Beckwith St N and T Cannabis on Russell St E. Beckwith Township has no store, so a driver from there uses these.
Cannabis in Smiths Falls: questions
Can I tour the Hershey site?
Verdex holds no tour information. Ask Canopy Growth directly.
Why list a producer among stores?
Verdex keeps one full brand profile for Canopy Growth because the company is based in the town. It does not sell at retail from that record.
