Look up a licenseHow cannabis is sold in Prince Edward Island
Prince Edward Island sells cannabis through PEI Cannabis, the retail brand of the PEI Cannabis Management Corporation, a Crown corporation that works with the PEI Liquor Control Commission under the provincial Cannabis Control Act. There are five stores, in Charlottetown, Stratford, Summerside, Montague and O'Leary, plus an online store offering home delivery or free Click & Collect at any store.
The minimum age is 19, and PEI Cannabis staff ask for ID from anyone who looks under 30. You may buy and carry up to 30 grams at a time, and there is no limit on legally purchased cannabis kept at home.
PEI limits where cannabis can be used. Under the Cannabis Control Act, consumption is allowed only in a private dwelling: a home and its yard, vacant land with the owner's consent, a hotel room if the operator permits it, or an RV, tent or permanently equipped boat moored to a dock. Restaurants and bars are not permitted, provincial parks designated smoke-free are off-limits for smoking, and landlords, condo boards and campground operators can impose further restrictions.
