How it works

How cannabis is sold in Lasalle

Was LaSalle always open to cannabis stores?

No. Council opted out in January 2019 along with Lakeshore and Tecumseh, CBC reported, while Amherstburg, Kingsville, Essex, Leamington and Windsor stayed in. LaSalle voted unanimously to opt in on March 24, 2021. Rob Katzman, who owns several shops in Windsor, told councillors the stores are highly regulated, and Councillor Marc Bondy noted each employs about 30 people, per CBC.

Which LaSalle roads have shops?

Malden Road holds Discounted Cannabis at 5844 and Greentown Cannabis Discount Hut at 5994. Front Road, which runs along the Detroit River, has Bro Cannabis (2596) and The LaSalle Cannabis Company (791). Canna Cabana is on Sandwich West Parkway.

Did the neighbours follow?

Tecumseh council voted to reverse its ban later, CBC reported, after saying it never said never. Lakeshore's current position is worth checking on the AGCO list.

Can it cross the river to Detroit?

No. LaSalle sits on the Detroit River, and the nearest crossings, the Ambassador Bridge and the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel, are in Windsor. Michigan allows adult-use sales, but taking cannabis across the border is still a problem in both directions. Read the border guide before packing, and see the Ontario hub for provincial rules.
