  • Minimum age

18 in Alberta, 21 in Quebec, 19 in all other provinces and territories.

  • Possession

    30 g of dried cannabis or equivalent in public (1 g dried = 5 g fresh, 15 g edible solids, 70 g non-solid products, 570 g beverages, 0.25 g concentrates or 1 seed). Some provinces cap home storage, e.g. 150 g per residence in Quebec and 1,000 g per household in B.C.

How it works

How cannabis is sold in Barrie

Four Barrie cannabis brands start with the word Bud: Buds 4 Less, Buds House, Budssmoke and Budtimez.

Where the 24 sit

Around downtown, Budssmoke is at 389 Bayfield, Emerald Cannabis Co at 102 Bayfield, Discounted Cannabis on Anne Street S and Budtimez on Wellington Street W. Further out, Buds 4 Less is on Mapleview Drive W, Canna Cabana on Cundles Road E and Buds House on Hurst Drive. Verdex lists 24 Barrie stores, matched to the AGCO register, with no full profile yet.

What council asked for in 2019

Barrie council gave the go-ahead in January 2019 and sent the AGCO a public interest statement describing where it preferred stores, according to BarrieToday. Ontario ended its licence lottery and cap at the end of 2019, per the AGCO, so the count now follows applications, not a quota.

Store hours are each shop's own choice inside the provincial window, so phone before an early trip. Price gaps between chains are easiest to see with the OCS versus private store guide, and the Ontario province page has the general rules.
