Key rules in Canada

Plain-language summary. The regulator is Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO).

  • Minimum age

18 in Alberta, 21 in Quebec, 19 in all other provinces and territories.

Where does the rest of Grey County shop?

In practice, in the city. The register lists six licensed stores, and shoppers from Georgian Bluffs have to come to them. Moonfire Cannabis and Maple Leaf Cannabis face each other on 2nd Ave E, while Canna Cabana sits on 20th Ave E, Buds 4 Less on 16th St E, Tokyo Smoke on 9th Ave E and True North on Third Ave. If Georgian Bluffs does opt in, this map will change; the Ontario hub has the province-wide rules.

Cannabis in Owen Sound: questions

Could Georgian Bluffs open stores soon?

Council only voted to study it in July 2026. An opt-in would still need store applications and AGCO licences, so no store is imminent.

Can a council that opted out change its mind?

Yes. The AGCO says a municipality that opted out can opt in at any time, but one that is in cannot opt out.
