Eugene is a college town with a long cannabis history and a lot of stores for its size: 53 licensed retailers for a city of under 180,000 people. That makes it one of Oregon's most crowded retail markets per resident, and prices usually reflect it.

What does Verdex cover in Eugene right now?

Every one of the 53 stores in our Eugene list comes from the OLCC license register, so each is licensed at the time of our last sync. Full profiles, with menus, reviews and our checks, exist so far for three: Moss Crossing, Sweet Tree Farms and Eugene OG. The rest show license data only. We are not ranking Eugene stores until more profiles are complete.

Taxes and the 3% city layer

Eugene collects the maximum local marijuana tax Oregon allows, 3% on top of the state's 17%, according to the City of Eugene. Lane County has its own arrangement for unincorporated areas, so stores just outside city limits may price differently. Medical cardholders at medical-registered shops skip the recreational tax. Because so many stores compete for a small population, daily deals are common; compare the final price after tax rather than the headline discount.

Rules that trip up newcomers

Many Eugene residents are students, and the age line is strict: anyone under 21 cannot enter a recreational store, even to accompany a friend. The University of Oregon campus follows federal rules, so cannabis is not allowed in residence halls even for adults. Public consumption, including in parks and along the river paths, is not permitted, and no lounges are licensed.

Before a first visit, our guide to ID, payment and what to ask covers the basics, and the Oregon state hub explains possession and home-grow limits.
