How it works

How cannabis is sold in The Dalles

The Dalles has a rare trail from one storefront: the first medical dispensary opened at an address that still sells cannabis.

  1. Columbia River Herbals, planned by Norm Brock, is approved as the city's first medical dispensary, at 609 E. 2nd Street, a former stove-store space, The Dalles Chronicle reported.

  2. Adult possession becomes legal statewide under Measure 91.

  3. The city council weighs whether to block dispensaries from selling recreational cannabis from this date, according to the Chronicle.

  4. Columbia River Herbals opens a new store on West 6th Street as a full recreational retailer.

Sorting the six

Frontier Farms holds the old 609 E 2nd address. West 2nd Street has High Mountain Recreational at 2722 and M Thrive Organics at 3226. Columbia River Herbals is at 2630 West 6th Street, the 2017 location. The Bake Shop is on Lone Pine Boulevard and Three Kings Organics on Terminal Avenue.

Across the Columbia lies Dallesport in Klickitat County, Washington. Cannabis bought here stays in Oregon, so a buyer from the other bank cannot carry it back across the bridge. The crossing guide explains why, and the state limits are listed for Oregon.
