Where can you legally consume cannabis in the Bronx?

Mostly at home, if your lease allows it. State law permits smoking wherever tobacco smoking is allowed, but city law and landlords narrow that a lot. The table sums up common Bronx situations.

Which Bronx stores can you check on Verdex?

Eight have full profiles with license details. BX Buddiez, Bronx Joint and Hibernica are among them, and Frass Box Cannabis shows its registered entity so you can match it with the state list. With 32 stores spread over a large borough, confirming hours before a bus or subway trip saves time. Borough-by-borough context sits on the New York page.

Are unlicensed shops still a problem in the Bronx?

Yes, though fewer than in 2023. Since May 2024 the city's Operation Padlock to Protect has ordered unlicensed smoke and cannabis shops closed across all five boroughs, the Bronx included. Some still operate. A legitimate store displays the Office of Cannabis Management verification QR code; scan it and confirm the address. Sellers flagged by regulators are listed on our Red List.

Delivery to Bronx addresses

Licensed dispensaries and licensed delivery businesses can deliver within their approved area, and the courier must verify your age on arrival. Pay through the store's own checkout rather than a stranger's payment app. Delivery orders count toward the same possession limit, and the driver can refuse the handoff if nobody 21+ with ID answers the door. Ask for the itemized receipt by email; it should name the licensed store and show the 9% state and 4% local tax lines. A menu that lists only a phone number, a first name and a cash price is a reason to stop and check the license before you order anything.

Cannabis in Bronx: questions

Can I smoke cannabis in a NYCHA apartment in the Bronx?

No. NYCHA housing is federally funded, and federal rules bar cannabis use in public housing even though it is legal under New York law. Violations can put a lease at risk.

How many licensed dispensaries does the Bronx have?

Verdex lists 32 state-licensed dispensaries in the Bronx and one licensed delivery operation, taken from official New York registers. Eight have full Verdex profiles.

Can I smoke in the car if it is parked?

No. New York treats cannabis in a vehicle like open alcohol, and smoking in a car, moving or parked on a public road, is not allowed. Keep products sealed and out of reach while driving.

Do Bronx dispensaries take cards?

Many take debit or use cashless ATM systems, and most keep an ATM on site, because card networks treat cannabis cautiously. Check the payment options on the store's profile before you go.
