Did Peekskill vote to allow shops?
Yes, and narrowly. On 13 December 2021 the Common Council voted 4-3 not to opt out, according to The Examiner News. The city's zoning code for shops, lounges and delivery followed in November 2022.
Which streets hold the five?
Cloud 914 is at 807 Washington St and Peek Buds at 1719 Main St, which the Peekskill Herald called the third dispensary. Peekskill applies the state's 500-foot buffer from a park or school, and Verdex holds addresses and licences for all five, but no scores. The others are Piffords at 500 Highland Ave, Tks Sensei at 8 John Walsh Blvd and Valley Greens at 939 Central Ave.
Why does Yorktown shop here?
Yorktown opted out, and the Examiner noted its residents are minutes from three shops in Cortlandt Manor and Peekskill. Cortlandt's four-member board split 2-2 on opting out, which left it in, and Cortlandt then set a 1,500-foot buffer against Peekskill's state-minimum 500 feet, The Examiner News reported.
Did the zoning tighten later?
A later council vote, on 26 May, unanimously cut the number of zoning districts where shops, lounges and delivery can locate. Anything the city does not change is set by New York itself.
