Queens licensees, plus 8 applicants, caught when the state changed how it measures distance to schools in July 2025

What did the school-distance correction change?

The state regulator said it had wrongly measured from a school building entrance, and applying the property-line reading put more than 150 licensed or prospective shops out of compliance. Courts and lawmakers then reworked it: a later law bars shops on the same street and within 500 feet of a school or place of worship, measured door to door. Whether any Rego Park address was among the 13 is not stated in the reports reviewed.

Which entries are only company names?

65-55 Woodhaven Licensing LLC and Token Retail Inc at 9229 Queens Blvd carry names that say nothing about the shop. GreenCup is at 9538, Natural Leaf at 9848 and The Goat Dispensary at 6308 Woodhaven Blvd. Match the address at the door. Rules for the whole state are on its hub page.

Cannabis in Rego Park: questions

Does the school-distance rule affect where I can buy?

Only indirectly: it decides where shops may sit, not who may buy. If a listed shop is closed, a relocation under the 500-foot rule is one possible reason.

Is Rego Park a separate city?

No. It is a Queens neighbourhood inside New York City, so the city's allowance for shops applies.
