How cannabis is sold in West Babylon

The Town of Babylon, one of four Long Island towns that allowed shops, requires a special use permit for every one of them.

Know the buffers. According to the New York State Bar Association's account of Babylon's law, shops stay 1,000 feet from homes, 200 feet from places of worship, 500 feet from schools, libraries and parks, and 500 feet from each other.
Start with Wellwood Avenue. East Coast Buds is at 1228 Wellwood Ave and The High Life at 1300. The zoning board heard proposals for both addresses.
Confirm the side streets. Island Leaf at 9 Mahan St won a zoning board special-use approval; Ab Cann at 111 Cabot St, Aromatic Gardens at 231 Edison Ave and Joyful Shores at 108 Lamar St sit off the main road.
Expect conditions. One West Babylon approval came with security, opening hours and a no-consumption condition, per a hearing summary.

Who else on Long Island said yes?

The three Nassau County towns of Hempstead, North Hempstead and Oyster Bay opted out of shops, while Babylon, Brookhaven, Riverhead and Southampton opted in, the Long Island Press reported.
