How it works

How cannabis is sold in Pueblo

Why 22 listings under an eight-store cap?

The Arkansas River divides Pueblo's cannabis market. When the city opened to retail after voters approved sales in November 2016, it capped stores at eight, four north of the river and four south. Verdex lists 22, which suggests many are licensed by the county, not the city.

Which stores look like in-town ones?

Apothecary Farms on Santa Fe Drive and Canna Cabinet on West Pueblo Boulevard read as in-town. Many others run down the Interstate 25 corridor: Doctor's Orders (3321 South I-25), High Octane (8910 South I-25), LivWell (2565 North I-25) and Maggie's Farm (4803 North I-25). Harvest is on Crane Ridge Drive and a second Doctor's Orders on Enterprise Drive. Verdex cannot tell you which are inside the city, so read the licensing authority on the store's licence.

What does the county add to the receipt?

Pueblo County levies its own marijuana taxes, a special sales tax and an excise tax, on top of the state's, according to county documents. The Colorado buying guide covers ID and limits.

Is Pueblo really Colorado's densest market?

A 2020 count reported 16.6 dispensaries per 50,000 residents, which made it the most dispensary-dense place per resident in Colorado. The figure comes from a single count, so treat the ranking as a snapshot. For the rest of the state, see the Colorado hub.
