"York" here is not York Region north of Toronto. The stores on this list, on Weston Road, Dundas Street West, Eglinton Avenue West and Scarlett Road, are in west-central Toronto, an area that was the separate City of York until amalgamation in 1998. The AGCO register uses that name, so Verdex does too. In York Region itself, Markham and Richmond Hill opted out of private stores in 2019, according to Global News and Daily Hive.
The 17 stores here are authorized retailers, and you must be 19 to buy. Because stock comes from the Ontario Cannabis Store, the reasonable questions are which door is closest and what the shop charges.

- City rules: as a part of Toronto, the city says stores must be 150 metres from schools with no minimum distance between retailers.
- Complaints: problems with a licensed store go to the AGCO.
- Hours: since May 1, 2026 authorized stores may open from 7 a.m., two hours earlier than before, and must close by 11 p.m., the AGCO announced.
- Central list: downtown shops with ratings are on the Toronto page.
Because two stores can share a street with a near-identical name, check the address rather than the brand. The licence guide shows how to match a shop with the AGCO register.
Questions about this list
Is York in these listings the same as York Region?
No. These addresses are in west-central Toronto, the former City of York, and the AGCO register files them under that name. York Region is a separate area north of Toronto with its own municipalities.
Did Markham and Richmond Hill allow cannabis stores?
Both opted out of private cannabis retail in 2019, according to Global News and Daily Hive. Municipalities can opt in later, so check the AGCO map for the current position.
