Across the Ottawa River, Gatineau's cannabis stores sell only to people 21 and over, while Nepean's sell to 19-year-olds. Regulated sales in Gatineau collapsed after Quebec raised its age from 18 to 21 in January 2020, MJBizDaily reported. Verdex lists 15 AGCO-authorized stores in Nepean, the former city that is now south-west Ottawa, on Greenbank Road, Robertson Road, Carling Avenue, Strandherd Drive and Woodroffe Avenue.

A sale is limited to 30 grams. These are register entries without scores yet. Names include Hunny Pot Cannabis and Dream Cannabis on Greenbank Road, and Pure Leaf Cannabis on Robertson Road.

Ottawa's rules, and who is on the list

Nepean amalgamated into Ottawa in 2001, so city rules apply. As CBC summarised them in 2018, smoking cannabis is banned in indoor public spaces, on city property including parks, beaches and transit stations, at or near schools and playgrounds, and on or near restaurant and bar patios.

  • Greenbank Road: Dream Cannabis (250), Hunny Pot Cannabis (3170) and Go Green Cannabis Co (3802-3812).
  • Robertson Road: Canna Cabana (1831) and Pure Leaf Cannabis (2027).
  • South and east: two One Plant stores, at 4335 Strandherd Drive and 1363 Woodroffe Avenue, plus Cannaverse on Carling Avenue.

West of Ottawa in Lanark County, Beckwith opted out of retail on January 8, 2019, according to the AGCO list, while Carleton Place and Mississippi Mills opted in. Anyone under 21 should also note the Quebec rules before they cross the river with cannabis, which our Quebec guide sets out. To confirm any Nepean address, use the licence-check guide. Provincial rules are on the Ontario hub.

Questions about this list

Why does the Ottawa-Gatineau border matter for cannabis?

Where can I smoke cannabis in Ottawa?

As CBC summarised the city's rules, not in indoor public spaces, on city property such as parks, beaches and transit stations, near schools and playgrounds, or on and near patios.

How many cannabis stores does Nepean have?

Verdex lists 15 AGCO-authorized stores in Nepean. Nepean is part of the City of Ottawa, so the AGCO map lists them under Ottawa.
