The first legal cannabis store in the Kawarthas was meant to open in a plaza at 566 Frank Hill Road, Fowlers Corners, beside a Coffee Time, outside Peterborough's city limits. Toronto-based Huge Shops Ontario Inc. won an AGCO lottery place in August 2019, then cited zoning problems and asked to move to 225 George Street North downtown, with residents given until January 3, 2020 to object, according to kawarthaNOW.
That store is now listed here as Growers Retail. Verdex lists 17 authorized stores in Peterborough, all in the AGCO register. Adults 19 and over may buy, and the Ontario Cannabis Store supplies every shelf.

Downtown Peterborough has the tightest group: Highlife at 119 George Street North, Lost Cannabis Company at 139 and Growers Retail at 225, all on the same street, with a Kawartha Leafs branch on Brock Street. Away from downtown the pattern changes to plaza shops on Lansdowne Street West, where Cost Cannabis is at 1135 and Kasa Kana at 1840, while Miss Jones is on Chemong Road.
- How a new store appears: an applicant must post public notice and residents can file objections with the AGCO, as they could for the George Street move.
- Two branches, one name: Kawartha Leafs has rows at 1535 Water Street and 223 Brock Street, so match the address before you rely on a menu.
- Delivery: Ontario stores can deliver with their own employees only; ask the shop rather than trusting an aggregator listing.
Prices differ by shop, not by product, because supply is provincial. The price and delivery guide shows how to compare a private store with the OCS website.
