In a March 8, 2021 update, Hamilton's licensing department told council it had received 103 notifications of intent to open cannabis stores between January 2020 and February 5, 2021, objected to 29 of them, and that none of the objections had led the AGCO to refuse a store. Verdex lists 53 AGCO-authorized stores in Hamilton today, two of them with full profiles and scores.

Hamilton's Cannabis Policy Statement says stores should generally stay 300 metres from schools, parks, alcohol and detox centres, day nurseries, libraries, community centres and mental-health or addiction centres, and should avoid clusters. The city has 15 days to comment on each application. But the AGCO decides, on the public-interest grounds in Ontario Regulation 468/18: public health and safety, protecting youth and preventing illicit activity. In September 2020, after a council motion, the city asked the province to consider spacing between stores, and in October the Attorney General's ministry replied that it would keep monitoring the situation.
- King Street East: Blue Sage Cannabis at 835 and Bud Xpress at 963.
- Upper streets: Bestbudz on Upper Wentworth Street and Affx Cannabis on Upper Centennial Parkway.
- Main Street West: Bongbaba Cannabis Culture at 1685.
The 2021 figures are a snapshot; the AGCO map is the current authority. The city amalgamated Stoney Creek, Ancaster, Dundas and Waterdown, and stores in those areas are counted here too. See the Hamilton page for local rules and the licence-check guide to verify a shop.
Questions about this list
How does Hamilton decide where cannabis stores go?
The AGCO decides. The city gets 15 days to comment on each application and, under its Cannabis Policy Statement, prefers 300 metres from schools, parks, libraries and similar places. Its objections did not stop any store in the 2021 review.
Can Hamilton stores deliver?
Kindling at 35 Pine Street lists free one-hour delivery across most Hamilton postcodes. Ontario stores deliver with their own employees to a private place between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m.
How many cannabis stores does Hamilton have?
Verdex lists 53 AGCO-authorized stores, including Stoney Creek, Ancaster, Dundas and Waterdown addresses. In February 2021 the city was tracking 103 applications.
