Milton first opted out of private cannabis stores, then reversed itself: the town ran an online survey from September 23 to October 7, 2019 and took the results to council on October 28, 2019, and by 2020 Global News described its opt-out as reversed. The AGCO now lists Milton as opted in, and Verdex lists 11 authorized stores, most on Main Street.
The minimum age is 19, and you may buy up to 30 grams a time. Two Bud's Cannabis Store branches are at 300 Main Street East and 19 Main Street North, and the list includes Kindling Cannabis Milton on Mary Street, Grand Cannabis on Main Street East and Piffingtons Cannabis Co on Bronte Street South.

Oakville, to Milton's south-east, opted out on January 14, 2019, and its status has not changed on the AGCO list, while Halton Hills, to the west, opted in. Because a council that opts in cannot go back, Milton's 2019 decision is permanent. Delivery from an authorized store must come from its own employees, to a private place, 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Read the OCS versus private stores guide for fees, or the Ontario hub for province-wide rules.
