The 2025 case is a reminder that a storefront can look ordinary and still be unlicensed. Ontario allows only stores with an AGCO retail store authorization to sell cannabis in person, and the AGCO publishes a map of them. Police say they received the tip on January 27, 2025 and executed the first warrant on April 10.

Look for the authorization on display and excise-stamped packages, and be wary of unstamped or oddly packaged products. The licence-check guide covers the steps, and the reporting guide shows where to send a complaint. Wider rules are on the Ontario hub.
