How it works

How cannabis is sold in Hobbs

Hobbs adopted its cannabis ordinance on October 4, 2021, six months before legal sales began, and about four miles from the Texas line its shops then took in $338,992 in the first week.

  1. State law legalises adult use.

  2. Ordinance 1137 adopted: retailers may not sit within 300 feet of a school, church or military installation, may not sell alcohol, and may not allow on-site use unless state-licensed as a consumption area.

  3. First week of retail sales: $338,992, reported by KERA and others, among the highest in the state for a place of Hobbs's size.

  4. The Hobbs News-Sun ranked the city fifth in the state for cannabis sales, about $49 million combined adult-use and medical.

Sorting the names

Bryan's Green Care accounts for four entries: 201 and 207 North Grimes, plus two at 502 West Navajo, both labelled retail with consumption. Grimes Street is the main strip, with Accendo at 4301 North and Animacann at 701. West Marland Boulevard has Bud Board at 2206 and Bud Brothers at 2702. Call the West Navajo address before relying on it as a use area. The trip to Texas crosses a federal line; penalties are in our Texas guide. State rules: state rulebook.
