How it works

How cannabis is sold in Socorro

Drivers on I-25 between Albuquerque and Las Cruces meet Socorro at exit 147, where the business loop leads into a town of roughly 8,100 people (2020 census) and 11 listed dispensaries. Most stops are quick ones, so it helps to know where the shops cluster before you turn off.

  1. Take the Business Loop in
Exit 147 puts you on the road toward the Plaza; Manzanares Avenue is the short street to look for.
  2. Choose a cluster
Manzanares Avenue holds Peak Harvest Cannabis New Mexico LLC - Socorro Retail at 101 W, Prohibition 37 - Manzanares Ave Retail at 103 and a Dispensary Near Me shop at 124B. Highway 85 has a pair at number 508, Road Runner Organics LLC - California St Retail is on South California Street and Carolinas Choice Llc/ Retail Enterprise Rd on Enterprise Road.
  3. Show ID and pay
Adults 21 and over with government ID. Anything statewide is covered by the state hub.
  4. Plan the smoke
Consumption is for private property or a licensed area, not a rest stop or a national wildlife refuge.

Fewer shops than the list suggests

Two register entries share 124 B Manzanares (the Dispensary Near Me listings) and two share 508 on Highway 85 and Old US 85. Treat each pair as one storefront until you confirm the licence on the state lookup; the real count in town is lower than 11.

The one written rule

The City Council's Ordinance 21-08-30, adopted August 30, 2021, keeps a cannabis establishment at least 300 feet from a school or day-care centre that already existed when the shop was licensed. New Mexico Tech's campus is in town, and students should check the university's own housing rules, which are separate from city law.

Cannabis in Socorro: questions

Are Socorro's 11 dispensaries really 11 shops?

No. The register gives two entries at 124 B Manzanares Avenue and two at 508 on Highway 85. Confirm each business against the state licence lookup before comparing.

How close can a Socorro dispensary be to a school?

Ordinance 21-08-30 sets 300 feet from a school or day-care that existed at the time of licensing. Locations approved before a new school opens are not affected.
