How cannabis is sold in Tucumcari

The evidence behind that reading

The Quay County Sun reported that the first month of adult-use sales in Tucumcari came to $147,799.05 and May 2022 to $255,109.81 in total sales, with the city commission setting a $300 cannabis business licence by a 3 to 2 vote. The Eastern New Mexico News reported in April 2025 that commissioners would not allow growing in commercial zones, even though four dispensaries wanted to grow on their premises. Retail is welcome; production has to go elsewhere.

Why it is a pass-through market

Tucumcari lies where I-40 meets US 54, so I read a large share of its walk-ins as people who were driving through anyway; nobody publishes the split. Statewide caps live on the New Mexico state page, not here.
