How it works

How cannabis is sold in Cambridge

Most cities that want fewer cannabis stores set a cap; Cambridge sets a distance instead. Its permit guidelines have no citywide cap on cannabis businesses, and a retail store may not open within 1,800 feet of another one or within 300 feet of a K-8 school. The spacing is waived for economic empowerment and social equity applicants.

Reading the corridors

Massachusetts Avenue does the heavy lifting: Good Nature Central at 580, GreenSoul Organics at 759, Budega at 1686 and Healing Greene at 1960, toward Porter. In Harvard Square, Good Nature Harvard is at 31 Church Street. Cambridge Street has Advesa at 966, KG Collective is on Mount Auburn Street, and Nuestra sits out on Monsignor O'Brien Highway. Walking from Central to Porter crosses at least three of these, so compare menus before picking the nearest.

Delivery-only licences were reserved at first for equity applicants, per the city's summary of the state rules. That listing works from a licensed premises, so use the phone number or app. Statewide limits and the CCC's lounge timetable are in our Massachusetts guide.

Cannabis in Cambridge: questions

Why are Cambridge stores so far apart?

The 1,800-foot rule keeps one store from opening near another, unless the applicant is an equity or empowerment business.

Is there a consumption lounge in Cambridge?

None we can verify. The CCC approved the final social-consumption regulations in December 2025.
