Medical first, adult-use later

The city's own history of the shops explains the register. INSA at 122 Pleasant Street began as a medical operation and received a special permit for adult-use retail in 2018. Holistic Industries (trading as Liberty) at 155 Northampton Street was permitted as a medical dispensary in early 2018 and converted in early 2020. The Verb is Herb at 74 Cottage Street got its adult-use special permit in early 2020. The two others are Apical, Inc. at 102 Northampton Street and Clovercraft LLC at 17 East Street.

Northampton Street and the rest

Northampton Street carries two of the five, at numbers 102 and 155, which puts the city's retail on the road toward Northampton. The others are on Pleasant, East and Cottage Streets. A six-store ceiling on a city this size means the last permit is worth watching; whatever the city does not set locally is on the state hub.
