How it works

How cannabis is sold in Holyoke

Holyoke's cannabis story starts with a mayor, not a statute.

  1. Mayor Alex Morse becomes the first mayor in Massachusetts to back legalisation, telling WBUR he wanted Holyoke to be a hub for recreational sales.

  2. Massachusetts voters approve Question 4, legalising adult use.

  3. Canna Provisions prepares to open in Holyoke, the Daily Collegian reported; the company says its store was the first adult-use dispensary in the city's history.

  4. The Verdex register lists nine Holyoke records, eight dispensaries and one delivery licence.

Where the nine sit

Sargeant Street has Boston Bud Factory Inc. at 73 and Holyoke Smokes Corp, a delivery licence, at 81-85. Beaulieu Street has 4bros Inc at 630 and Solurge Inc. at 650, side by side. Buudda Brothers LLC is at 604 Main Street, Canna Provisions Inc at 380 Dwight Street, Lyman Group, LLC at 40 Lyman Street and Riverside Agriculture, LLC at 1 Cabot Street. The City of Holyoke keeps its own list of firms holding a host community agreement and a City Council special permit, and it is the better check on whether an operator is cleared to trade. The Massachusetts hub covers state law.
