ribbon cutting for Western Front, reported as the first cannabis business in Chelsea

Chelsea Record, 5 November 2020

Five addresses, five company names

The register gives DMS Trinity, LLC at 260 Second Street, House of Ermias, LLC at 267 Broadway, Janet Devco, LLC at 121 Webster Avenue, Jolo Can LLC at 80 Eastern Avenue and RISE Holdings, Inc. at 200 Beacham Street. These are licensee names, so a shop you know by its sign may not appear under that name. Western Front opened at Parkway Plaza on Webster Avenue, according to the Chelsea Record; the register's Webster Avenue entry is Janet Devco, LLC (MR281907), so match the licence number before assuming the two are the same business.

What the city keeps

The Chelsea Record put the city's take at 3 percent of a store's sales, following state law. The Boston Globe reported in December 2020 that operators saw Chelsea as competitive because it set clear ground rules early. Everything else about limits and tax is on the Massachusetts pages.
