Seven on paper, six on the register

Fitchburg's retail cap is set at 40 percent of the number of package-store licences, which works out to seven adult-use stores, according to a 2018 Planning Board document. The register shows six dispensary records, so a seventh may still be open to an applicant, though the register does not show which records are adult-use and which are medical. River Street is the one place where a dispensary and a delivery base are a few doors apart, at 346 and 339. Massachusetts retail licences carry an MR prefix on the Commission's list and delivery licences an MD prefix, so the number tells you the type before you drive out. Route 9 is the corridor either way.
