Ban, reversal, county holdout

The Yakima City Council banned cannabis businesses in January 2014, and a new council lifted the ban in May 2016, according to the Yakima Herald. The city then adopted Ordinances 2016-008, 2016-017 and 2016-018 for siting. Yakima County banned recreational businesses in 2014, in response to local voters rejecting the state initiative, and a county-wide vote does not look likely to come back soon. Six state licences were allotted to unincorporated Yakima County, and tribal land near Toppenish and Wapato needs tribal council agreement.
