How it works

How cannabis is sold in Mount Vernon

The state's original plan gave Mount Vernon three stores, and the register now shows nine addresses, so the first job is working out which sit inside the city.

  • Compare with the original allotment. Skagit County received ten retail licences, with three going to stores in Mount Vernon and one each to Burlington, Anacortes and Sedro-Woolley, according to local coverage.
  • Check the city zone. Ordinance 3627 allows marijuana uses only in the Commercial-Limited Industrial zone, according to the city. Old Highway 99 South holds three of the nine: Loving Farms at 2615, Cannazone at 3010 Suite B and Super Chronic Club at 3818.
  • Question the far addresses. Northwest Cannabis at 17905 and Mount Vernon Retail Holdings LLC at 17929 State Route 536, and Prc at 18729 Fir Island Road, have high numbers that suggest the Conway side of the county.
  • Read the company names. Mount Vernon Retail Holdings LLC and Happy Time LLC 2 at 200 Suzanne Lane are legal names, so the sign will differ. Lucky Cannabis is at 2714 Henson Road.

What the numbers leave open

Nothing in the listing names the jurisdiction that licensed each address. The original ten licences covered Mount Vernon, three other cities and unincorporated Skagit County, so a Mount Vernon postal address does not mean city limits. Either way, whole-state rules apply, as the Washington hub explains.
