San Diego allows a maximum of 36 cannabis outlets, four per council district, and each must stand 1,000 feet from parks, churches, childcare centres, playgrounds, libraries, schools and other outlets, according to the city. A June 2022 staff report counted 26 outlets with permits and 22 operating; the limit had not been reached because zoning leaves few eligible sites.
Verdex lists 25 dispensaries. Three are rated: Mankind Dispensary (9.6) on Miramar Road, Torrey Holistics (9.3) in Sorrento Valley and March and Ash (9.0) on Camino del Rio South in Mission Valley.

The buffers explain the map. Shops sit in industrial and commercial districts, not neighbourhood streets: three are on Sorrento Valley Road or nearby (Torrey Holistics on Roselle Street, a Buzz Cannabis at 10715 and Cake House at 10150), two on Camino del Rio South, Catalyst on Convoy Street in Kearny Mesa and Mankind on Miramar Road. A Green Alternative is on Roll Drive in the south.
- Two Buzz shops: Buzz Cannabis appears twice in our list, at Camino Del Rio South and on Sorrento Valley Road, so use the address.
- Delivery: California allows licensed delivery into any city, including into San Diego.
- Nearby cities: La Mesa has no hard cap, and Vista ties storefronts to population.
The city's cannabis map shows where an outlet could legally locate, and a delivery-only business holds a different state licence and has no storefront. Confirm a shop with the DCC licence lookup; our licence guide shows the steps.
Questions about this list
How many cannabis outlets can San Diego have?
The city's municipal code allows 36 storefront outlets, four per council district, according to the City of San Diego. A June 2022 staff report said 26 had permits and 22 were operating.
Why are San Diego dispensaries in industrial areas?
Outlets must be 1,000 feet from parks, schools, churches, childcare centres, libraries and other outlets, and zoning leaves few eligible sites, so most sit in industrial districts such as Sorrento Valley and Kearny Mesa.
