Long Beach decided who could open a dispensary by lottery. Measure MM, passed in 2016, awarded 32 medical storefront licences that way, and an ordinance amendment on May 10, 2022 added eight equity dispensaries for a total of 40, according to the Signal Tribune and the city. The city runs a Cannabis Equity Program with grants and fee waivers.

Verdex lists 19 licensed dispensaries; three have ratings. Leaf and Lion (9.4) is on Stanley Avenue in North Long Beach, Culture Cannabis Club (9.2) on Los Coyotes Diagonal and King's Crew (9.1), a STIIIZY-affiliated shop, on Pacific Coast Highway East.

Anaheim Street, Broadway and North Long Beach

The city's shops follow its commercial roads. Anaheim Street has Bam Body And Mind at 3411 and Calm and Collective at 2515, East Broadway has 8278 at 2767, and 14th Street West and South Street East carry a shop each. The three rated shops are on Stanley Avenue, Los Coyotes Diagonal and East Pacific Coast Highway.

  • Equity licences: the city's Cannabis Equity Program supports some storefronts; details are on longbeach.gov.
  • Ownership chains: the STIIIZY guide explains that brand's store network.
  • State check: confirm a shop with the DCC licence search, and use the California licence guide if a shop looks new.

Each shop needs a city licence, issued through the city's Office of Cannabis Oversight, and a state licence; ask which certificate is on the wall. With the count fixed by lottery, new storefronts are rare, so an unfamiliar shop deserves a licence check. For the state's other cities, see the California page.
