Colorado Springs had no adult-use stores until spring 2025. Voters there approved Question 300 in November 2024 with 54% support, letting existing medical dispensaries add recreational licences, and Verdex now lists 90 stores in the city. Statewide, a buyer aged 21 or over with valid government photo ID, visitors included, may buy from a Marijuana Enforcement Division licensee, up to 1 ounce in one transaction.

Verdex lists 648 stores. Top-scored Denver shops include Callie’s on Larimer Street in RiNo, Lightshade on Evans Avenue and LivWell, a chain with 17 stores that lists hours to midnight. Stores may open between 8 a.m. and midnight under state rules, and cities can shorten that.

Denver, the Front Range and towns with no store

Denver has 172 of our listings, Colorado Springs 90, Pueblo 22, Aurora 21 and Boulder 18, with Trinidad and Durango at 14 each. Colorado lets each municipality and county decide whether to allow stores, so large parts of the state have none and a map of listings is a map of yes votes. Denver's licences carry numbers such as 402R-00053, and the MED publishes monthly lists of every licensed store, grow, delivery permit and hospitality business.

  • Tax: retail marijuana pays a 15% state sales tax plus local taxes and is exempt from the 2.9% state sales tax. Medical marijuana pays the reverse.
  • Medical cards: issued only to Colorado residents and valid only in Colorado, so visitors shop on the recreational side.
  • Delivery: allowed statewide in law, but a municipality or county must pass an ordinance permitting it, and medical and retail delivery need separate permits.
  • Lounges: consumption is legal only at MED-licensed hospitality businesses, most of them in Denver. Bars, sidewalks and ski slopes are off limits.

Check the licence before you buy: the MED's licence lookup takes a store name or number. Our Colorado buying guide lists the ID checks (two per visit) and the driving and airport rules.
