Of the 17 licensed dispensaries in our Taos list, at least six are on Paseo del Pueblo Sur, the main road south of the Plaza, at numbers from 338 to 1128. One licence, Bighorn Ventures at 536 Paseo del Pueblo Norte, is a consumption licence. A medical card is not required; adults 21 and older can buy up to the statewide caps. Taos Pueblo is a separate sovereign nation just north of town, and state cannabis law does not apply on its land. Verdex has no scores for Taos stores yet, so use the register data as the starting point.

The Town of Taos rulebook

Taos regulates cannabis through its own ordinance. When the council adopted it in October 2021, the Taos News reported that no cannabis business could be within 300 feet of the Historic Taos Plaza, a residence, a school, a day-care centre or another cannabis business, and that sales and consumption spaces could operate from 7 a.m. to midnight. The Town's online code shows those rules were rewritten by Ordinance 25-04, adopted July 8, 2025, so check the current text before relying on old summaries.

Elkhorn appears twice, at Suites A and C, with different licence rows. Our lounge guide explains why a consumption area needs its own licence, and the New Mexico hub covers the rest.

Questions about this list

Are there cannabis lounges in Taos?

Verdex lists at least one consumption licence, Bighorn Ventures on Paseo del Pueblo Norte. New Mexico allows consumption only inside a licensed consumption area, and the Town's ordinance sets operating hours for them, so confirm details with the venue.

Does state cannabis law apply on Taos Pueblo?

No. Taos Pueblo is a sovereign nation, and tribal law governs its land. New Mexico's adult-use rules apply in the Town of Taos and county, not on the Pueblo.
