Carlsbad has two cannabis roads: Canal Street and West Pierce Street. Verdex lists about eight shops on each, among 26 entries in all. West Pierce holds Bud Board Dispensary at 618 and Enchantment Growth at 1002; Canal Street has Accendo at 2521 South and Compassionate Distributors at 1704 South. South Canyon Street has four more, and Cave City Cannabis is on East Church Street. Many of the names on Verdex's list are legal entities rather than shop brands, so check the address on your route.

Two Carlsbad entries carry consumption licences: Hat Creek Cannabis Cafe on South Canyon Street and Bud Board's National Parks Highway store, listed as a consumption retailer. New Mexico allows cannabis use only at a private residence or in a licensed consumption area, so these are the two entries on Verdex's list where use on site is licensed.
Carlsbad Caverns National Park is federal land. Under 36 CFR 2.35, possessing or being under the influence of a controlled substance is prohibited in National Park Service areas, so cannabis stays in the car, or better, at the hotel.
- One owner, several doors: Bud Board holds at least three Carlsbad licences, and TKO Cannabis and Pecos Valley Production hold two each.
- Manufacturers: Stoned Ape Canna's McKay Street entry has no counter.
The licences are verified but no Carlsbad shop has a Verdex score yet; ask for lab results at the counter.
Questions about this list
Can I use cannabis at a Carlsbad dispensary?
Only at a licensed consumption area. Verdex lists two Carlsbad entries with consumption licences, Hat Creek Cannabis Cafe and Bud Board's National Parks Highway store. Check with the shop first, since a licence does not guarantee current hours or seating.
Can I bring cannabis into Carlsbad Caverns National Park?
No. It is federal land, and the National Park Service prohibits possessing controlled substances there under 36 CFR 2.35, even though cannabis is legal in New Mexico.
