Ruidoso dispensaries: 29 licensed cannabis stores

Sudderth, Mechem and the mountain-town caveats

Two streets hold everything in our top eight. Sudderth Drive has stores at 200, 1100, 1803, 2117 and 2553; Mechem Drive has Elevation 6420 at 101 and a Compassionate Distributors store at 1216. The same operator also trades from Sudderth, and the rows carry separate licence names, so read the street address rather than the company name.

• Tax: the state cannabis excise has been 14% since July 1, 2026, plus gross receipts tax that varies by location, per the New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department.
• Consumption: smoking or vaping is allowed only inside a licensed consumption area. Discover Ruidoso, the village tourism site, says smoking cannabis in public carries a $50 fine.
• Tribal and federal ground: the Mescalero Apache Reservation, which runs Ski Apache and the Inn of the Mountain Gods, is tribal land, and the Lincoln National Forest around the village is federal. State cannabis law does not cover either.
• Going home: the tourism site advises leaving leftovers behind, because carrying cannabis across a state line is illegal. Many visitors come from Texas, where retail sales are not legal.

Confirm a store's licence with the state's verification tool before you go; our licence-check guide shows the steps, and the New Mexico hub has the statewide rules.
