Sunland Park dispensaries: 41 stores at the El Paso line

Verdex lists 41 New Mexico-licensed dispensaries in Sunland Park, the border town serving El Paso, with the rules and taxes for Texas shoppers.

This page is about the United States — not the country you picked in the header.

Dispensaries rated: 41
License verified: 41

Sunland Park is a New Mexico town of roughly 17,000 people that lives next to El Paso, and its dispensary strip exists because Texas has no legal retail market. The Santa Fe New Mexican reported in August 2023 that a cannabis economy had grown up there, sustained mainly by Texans crossing over to buy. Verdex lists 41 licensed retailers, most on Appaloosa Drive, including Chadcor Holdings (1615), Astro Buds (1650) and Animacann (1500). Buyers must be 21 or older with a valid government ID. The entries come from the state licence register, so none has a Verdex score yet, and it is worth confirming hours before you cross the line.

Buying here and going home

The rule that matters to a Texan is a short one: what you buy has to be used in New Mexico. Carrying cannabis over a state line is illegal, and Texas has no legal adult-use retail market.

Where they cluster: Appaloosa Drive (1500 to 1650), Futurity Drive (1805), McNutt Road (1685), Victory Lane (1769) and Palomas Place (100).
How many: Wikipedia's border-towns entry, citing local reporting, counted 16 dispensaries in Sunland Park in January 2024, the second most in the state after Albuquerque. Our 41 is larger because the register includes licences that may not all be trading, so open the store's page before you cross.
Consumption: some entries, such as Astro Buds, carry consumption and retail in the licence name. Consuming on site is legal only in a licensed consumption area.
Tax: 14% state cannabis excise since July 1, 2026, plus gross receipts tax.

Choose a store from the register, confirm its licence in the state lookup, and pay attention to labels and lab results; our label guide covers what New Mexico packages must show. The New Mexico hub has the statewide limits.
