Since February 2024, Border Patrol agents have seized more than $350,000 of licensed cannabis from at least 14 southern New Mexico businesses, according to news reports, mostly at the Interstate 25 checkpoint north of Las Cruces or on US 70. That is the Las Cruces catch: the shops are state-licensed, but the roads out are federally policed. Verdex lists 113 dispensary entries, among them Accendo on West Picacho Avenue, Akeso Botanicals on Conway and Amigos on Rinconada Boulevard.

Adults 21 and over with valid ID may buy, up to 2 ounces of flower per sale.

  • Cost: the state's 14% excise tax is added to Las Cruces's own gross receipts tax.

With over a hundred entries and no Verdex scores yet, use licence type, address and lab results to shortlist. Shoppers coming from El Paso should also read the border warnings for Anthony and Chaparral.

Questions about this list

Can I drive cannabis from Las Cruces to Albuquerque?

It is risky. Border Patrol runs a checkpoint on I-25 north of Las Cruces, and news reports describe seizures of legally purchased New Mexico cannabis there, because federal law still prohibits it. Buy close to where you will use it.

Are there consumption licences in Las Cruces?

Verdex lists at least one, M Thomas LLC on East Idaho Avenue, with a consumption licence. New Mexico otherwise limits use to private homes and licensed consumption areas.
