Lakewood's retail market started with a petition. Under a citizen-initiated ordinance adopted in June 2020, only owners of medical marijuana businesses licensed and operating in good standing on April 1, 2020 can hold a retail licence, according to the City of Lakewood. Customers must be 21 with photo ID, a single sale is capped at 1 ounce of flower, and staff badges come from the state, not the city.
Verdex lists 11 entries covering 10 storefronts. Livwell appears twice for 3600 South Wadsworth Boulevard, once with a retail and once with a medical licence. Star Buds is at 265 South Wadsworth.

Wadsworth Boulevard carries four storefronts: 265 South and 389 for Star Buds and Levels IV, then 3360 and 3600 South. West Colfax Avenue holds two, at 6900 (Leiffa) and 10590 (Ajoya Medical Cannabis). The remainder are spread out: Horizon Cannabis on West Mississippi Avenue, Mecca on Youngfield Street, Ascend on West Alameda Avenue and Kaya Cannabis on West Jewell Avenue.
- Retail or medical: a 402R prefix marks retail, 402- marks medical. Lakewood's medical rules sit in Chapter 5.51 of its municipal code, and the city says no additional medical licences are issued.
- Same-name stores: Livwell and Star Buds run several Front Range shops with different menus, so check the address before you drive.
- Nearby towns: Denver, Edgewater and Wheat Ridge have their own rules and store counts; Lakewood's are not a guide to theirs.
The closed pool means fewer new names but more turnover of ownership, so verify the licence on the state Marijuana Enforcement Division lookup before assuming a rebranded store is the same operator. The Colorado guide explains the ID checks and where you can use what you buy.
