Ten. That is the number of marijuana stores Grand Junction's City Council allows, and Verdex lists exactly ten. Voters approved retail sales in April 2021; the council capped licences at ten that September and picked the operators by lottery on March 30, 2023, according to the city and the Daily Sentinel. At the counter, an ID check and a limit of 1 ounce of flower per visit apply.

The ten include Grand Junction Greenery on Horizon Drive, Kai Dispensary on South Avenue and The Garage on Colorado Avenue. Because the cap is fixed, a name missing from this list is not a licensed Grand Junction store.

Two clusters and a fixed count

Three of the ten stand on Horizon Drive, the road leading north toward the airport: Grand Junction Greenery at 762, The Green Horizon at 739 and Native Roots at 683. Downtown holds another group, with The Garage on Colorado Avenue, Golden Rookie on Grand Avenue, Kai on South Avenue and The Buzz on North 3rd Street. The rest are Canna Care on Fischer Avenue, Colorado Weedery on Struthers Avenue and Lucky Me on Patterson Road.

  • Licence numbers: the Grand Junction stores carry numbers in the 402R-01000s, such as 402R-01002 for Grand Junction Greenery.
  • Newer stores: the first opened in 2023, and the Daily Sentinel reported the tenth and last had opened by early 2025.
  • Elsewhere in Mesa County: the cap applies inside the city, so do not assume the same rules in neighbouring towns.

With no room for new entrants, the useful comparison is service and product testing rather than which shop is licensed. Read the batch label, ask for the lab report and check that the store's licence number matches the state register. The Colorado buying guide covers limits and driving rules.
