Ontario keeps Mountain time, an hour ahead of Portland, so a store's closing time may not match the Pacific-time schedule you had in mind, especially if you are driving in from Boise. Verdex lists 14 stores here, including Burnt River Farms on NW Washington Ave, Hotbox Farms on NE Goodfellow St and Cookies on NW 11th St. Anyone 21 or over with valid photo ID can buy, whatever state they live in. The daily limit is 2 ounces of flower, per the OLCC, and stores are open to shoppers from any state.

Ontario is the only municipality in Malheur County that has opted in to cannabis businesses, and reporting cites the city charging the full 3% local tax on top of the 17% state rate, about 20% in total. City officials have said a large majority of buyers are Idaho residents; the estimates run from roughly 80 to 90 percent.
- Where stores are: NW Washington Ave, NE 2nd and 3rd Streets, East Ln S, SW 4th Ave and SE 1st St, all within Ontario city limits.
- Idaho law: NORML's summary says possession of three ounces or less is a misdemeanor with a $300 minimum fine and up to a year in jail, and Idaho's House Bill 7 took effect July 1, 2025. Taking cannabis across the state line is also a federal crime.
- Where to use it: only on private property in Oregon; cars, parks and other public places are off limits.
Since the products stay in Oregon, plan to use or leave them before you cross. If you are comparing stores, ask for batch lab results; our first-visit guide covers ID and payment.
