The Yonkers Times counted 22 Westchester towns and villages that opted out of dispensaries in December 2021, and Yonkers was not one of them: the city allowed both dispensaries and cannabis cafes. Verdex lists 14 New York-licensed stores, on Central Park Avenue (1703 and 2371), McLean Avenue (471 and 865-867), Saw Mill River Road (305 and 1064), Yonkers Avenue and South Broadway. Green Bar and Budr Cannabis are typical entries, and none has a Verdex score yet. Adults 21 and older can buy, and the addresses below come from the state licence register, so confirm hours before you drive.

Border avenues and unusual names

McLean Avenue runs along Yonkers' southern edge next to the Bronx, and Green Zephyr at 865-867 McLean is one of the stores near the city line. Central Park Avenue, the long commercial road running north through Yonkers into Greenburgh, has AFI & Associates Group at 2371, a licence-holder name.

  • Look-alike name: Cloud 9 Smoke & Gift Shop Inc. at 305 Saw Mill River Road sounds like a smoke shop. Verify its OCM licence before buying there.
  • Opt-in cities nearby: Mount Vernon, New Rochelle and White Plains also allowed retail, while Bronxville, Larchmont and Rye City opted out.
  • Tax: 13% at retail, exempt from ordinary sales tax.
  • Licence names: AFI & Associates Group, 10415 Jamaica LLC and Hidden City Farms are company names, so match the storefront sign to the licence before you rely on a listing.

Retail rules match the rest of the state, and the difference is local zoning. Check the store in the OCM list, read our licensed versus unlicensed guide and see the New York page for state limits.

Questions about this list

Did Yonkers allow cannabis dispensaries?

Yes. The Yonkers Times reported in December 2021 that Yonkers had not opted out before the December 31, 2021 deadline, so dispensaries and cannabis cafes are allowed, unlike in 22 Westchester towns and villages.

Why does a Yonkers store name look like a smoke shop?

Some licensed stores keep the name of the parent company or of a former business. Cloud 9 Smoke & Gift Shop Inc. appears in our data as a dispensary, so check its OCM licence before you buy.
