Look up a licenseHow cannabis is sold in Eliot
Eliot's voters, not its staff, set the number of stores: on 8 November 2022 they approved licence caps, and the town now allows 11 retail licences.
| Town | Limit | Source detail |
|---|---|---|
| Eliot | Retail cap of 11, set by referendum | The town's table shows 7 retail licences active and 4 open. Allowed only in the commercial-industrial zone, with 500-foot buffers. |
| Kittery | One store per allowed zone | Zones C-1, C-2 and C-3 only. The rules took effect 8 September 2021, the first licence followed in August 2022 and a second in 2023. |

- Zone
- commercial-industrial only
- Buffers
- 500 feet from schools, homes, childcare and places of worship
Why do five listed stores not match seven licences?
Eliot's retail category covers stores, dispensaries and caregiver storefronts, so the town's seven includes uses that Verdex does not list. The register shows two stores on Harold L. Dow Highway, East Coast Cannabis at 290 and Highly Cannaco at 495. The others are Auraz on Brook Road, Cannabis Cured on Levesque Drive and OG Cannabis on American Way. Voters amended the cultivation and manufacturing caps on 13 June 2023, lowering both, and testing labs sit outside the caps altogether. See the state page.
