Worcester's own marijuana page sets the retail target at 15, calculated as 20 percent of the city's 74 off-premises liquor licences. Verdex lists 15 licensed businesses, so the city is at its number, and the page adds that retail applications are not currently being accepted. That is why the same names appear year after year: Good Chemistry on Harrison Street, Bud's Goods & Provisions on West Boylston Street and Evergreen Strategies on the Southwest Cutoff.
Buyers must be 21 with a government photo ID, and a sale is limited to 2 ounces of flower.

Good Chemistry was among the first recreational stores approved in the city, in 2019, while Bud's Goods opened on West Boylston Street in October 2020, according to CBS Boston and the operator's site. Two listings share Millbury Street, and Southbridge Street has two, including one named Cultivate Leicester, Inc.; a company of that name opened one of the state's first two adult-use stores in Leicester on November 20, 2018.
- Medical roots: Mayflower Medicinals and other operators began as medical dispensaries. The licence type on each profile tells you which they hold.
- Rules in full: the Massachusetts guide sets out home limits and why lounges are not open yet.
Worcester requires a signed host community agreement and a community meeting before it reviews an applicant, according to the city, which is one reason new shops are rare. Expect the current 15 to stay the market for a while, and judge them on licence record, test results on the package and how staff answer questions about strength.
