Jersey City requires the main doors of Class 5 cannabis retailers to be at least 600 feet apart, according to the city's cannabis standards, so the spacing spreads shops along commercial streets. Verdex lists four each on Newark Avenue, John F. Kennedy Boulevard and West Side Avenue. Examples are Clone Canabiss on Newark Avenue, Candid Dispensary on Kennedy Boulevard and Benedict's Supply farther along the same boulevard.
Shoppers need to be 21 or older with a government photo ID, and New Jersey caps a purchase at the equivalent of 1 ounce of flower, whether you live in the state or are visiting for the day.

Jersey City adopted its cannabis standards in August 2021 (Ordinance 21-053) and revised them in January 2022 (22-003). Retail is limited to listed zoning districts, including neighbourhood commercial, highway commercial, waterfront and industrial zones, so shops appear on commercial spines and near the waterfront rather than in residential streets. Communipaw Avenue has 1634 Funk and Jersey Dispensary, and Tonnelle Avenue has two more listings.
- Local tax: the city's transfer tax is 2% of each retail sale, on top of 6.625% state sales tax.
- Limit: 1 ounce of flower or equivalent per transaction; 4 grams of concentrate or vape oil; edibles up to 1,000 mg THC.
- Licence: before choosing, the licence-check guide explains the lookup; Verdex has verified licences but not yet scored these shops.
Xena NJ appears twice in Verdex's data at 759A Bergen Avenue, so check the current storefront before you head out. Because the 600-foot rule keeps rivals close together, comparing two menus before you buy costs little.
